Global Opportunities is something extremely unique to Susquehanna. And it's been one of my favorite parts of coming to the school. I was so excited to study abroad, and really immerse myself in a culture different from my own. I was able to make so many new friends and meet people that I'm still in contact with daily. We are fortunate enough to be co-directors to go back to my culture, which happens to be Hawaii. And it's a great opportunity for us to help expand their cultural lenses. And that's what all of these programs are for. But for GO Hawaii, in particular, it's fun to watch the change of that lens from what they view Hollywood, Hawaii-- TV, Hawaii, and the change that happens with them when they're actually on island. And they're involved with Hawaiian people learning Hawaiian culture. You really do get to build that self-confidence. You truly get to explore another part of the world with classmates and one or two professors from here. So self-confidence definitely goes up. Just for the experience of exploring another culture while you're in college. It allows you to just benefit from later on when applying for jobs and internships. They see that you've been abroad. And you already have that greater appeal. Okay, you can deal with all sorts of different people from different backgrounds. Intercultural competency really is the heart of what the GO program is all about. It's not really about travel. It's really about having an intercultural experience with somebody else. And so part of what we're really trying to do is to get students to really be comfortable with being around people that are different than they are. And then how they can find ways to engage with those other people, and we feel like that's going to set every single one of our students up for success.
